Dear Trolls & haters,
While we at CALF are very flattered that we have had such an impact on your life that you feel the need to want to post on here, please be aware that you are not the first troll to have the brilliant, and ever so hilarious idea, that you would look cool by adding some of your ever so witty remarks, So here is a selection of the stuff we have heard before. Unless you can think of something new to say, please don’t waste your time by just repeating the same old stuff the trolls before you have already tried….
BUT WHAT DO YOU EAT?
I eat cruelty free versions of everything you eat, and a whole lot more.
BUT YOU NEED TO EAT MEAT FOR PROTEIN!
Too much animal protein is actually bad for the health, and i get all the protein i need from many different sources including spinach, soybean, quinoa, whole grains, rice, beans, legumes, corn, oats, peas and peanut butter.
WELL YOU CAN’T GET ENOUGH CALCIUM IF YOU ARE VEGAN!
I get plenty of calcium from a wide range of food including beans, chickpeas, tofu, nuts, seeds, soya, fruit, vegetables and cereal.
IF GOD DIDN’T WANT US TO EAT ANIMALS, WHY DID HE MAKE THEM?
Animals exist for their own reasons, they do not belong to us. Just as black people do not belong to whites and women do not belong to men. Do you REALLY think that if god had wanted us to eat animals he would have given them the ability to feel pain and fear? Do you really think Jesus would be happy to see factory farms and the horrendous abuse and suffering within them?
Also, this quote seems pretty clear to me -
Genesis 1:29
Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.
BUT MEAT TASTES SO GOOD!
We must have different taste buds then, because i have never salivated at the thought of eating something that is the product of suffering and abuse, and that is contaminated with urine, excrement, semen, e-coli, listeria, bacteria and hormones, and many other nasties. As for any other foods that i can now no longer eat, as they are not vegan, i am more than happy to sacrifice a few moments of taste on my tongue to help stop suffering, abuse and murder.
I DIDN’T CLIMB TO THE TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN TO EAT PLANTS!
No you got there to use, abuse, rape, murder and eat defenseless animals instead. Which in turn is ruining your health and your children’s health, allowing your fellow man to go hungry and is destroying our planet. GO YOU!
I ONCE TRIED A VEGAN SAUSAGE AND IT WAS DISGUSTING!
So you are rating the entire vegan diet on one sausage? Have you never eaten anything none vegan that you didn’t like? That’s as silly as saying i hate sprouts so i won’t eat any vegetables.
IF WE DIDN’T EAT ANIMALS THEY WOULD BE EXTINCT!
Hmmmmmm, so you think they would prefer a life of misery over never being born? And thankfully some people would allow them life for no other reason than they deserve to live.
IF WE DIDN’T EAT ANIMALS WE WOULD BE OVER RUN WITH THEM!
Hmmm really? There are only so many farmed animals on the planet atm because we artificially inseminate/breed them constantly. If left to their own devices they wouldn’t breed/produce offspring anywhere near as often. If that were the case, humans wouldn’t NEED to artificially inseminate / rape animals, nature would save them the time and effort by doing it for them.
WHAT ABOUT THE POOR PLANTS, THEY FEEL PAIN TOO!
Do you REALLY think i should waste my time even replying to that one?
( Go back to school and learn about the central nervous system and brain )
BUT ANIMALS EAT MEAT!
Most of the animals you eat don’t though. And check out a lions mouth, and digestive system, they don’t look like ours to me!
Also, animals kill to survive, we do not need meat to survive, we want it from pure greed.
IF EVERYONE WENT VEGAN THERE WOULDN’T BE ENOUGH FOOD TO GO ROUND!
Really? The world produces enough grain to feed the whole planet many times over. We just choose to feed a lot of that grain to the animals you eat instead.
A VEGAN DIET CANNOT HELP PEOPLE AFFECTED BY FAMINES ETC. WE NEED MEAT TO FEED THE WORLD!
Meat is actually a big cause of global hunger. Learn more here…
www.viva.org.uk/guides/feedtheworld.htm
HOW CAN YOU CARE ABOUT ANIMALS MORE THAN HUMANS?
I am actually capable of caring about many different species at the same time. But watch the news, pick up a paper read a history book, look at all the atrocities man is capable of, that makes it easier to care about animal rights more than mans, they aren’t as self destructive, greedy or cruel.
WE SHOULD BE HELPING PEOPLE, NOT ANIMALS!
Ok, what do YOU do to help people?
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BE 100% VEGAN!
Being vegan means trying to live your life in a cruelty free way as much as possible and never knowingly cause harm to any other life, wherever possible.
If there are any essential items that have no vegan alternative, then we will campaign, and do what we can to get a vegan alternative.
There is a huge difference between a fly being squished on a windscreen to a cow being mutilated while still alive.
DO YOU EAT FISH?
LOL, that would make me a pescatarian NOT vegan.
HITLER WAS A VEGETARIAN!
AND? But actually he wasn’t, how can somebody whos favourite foods included sausages and fish be veggie?
FARM ANIMALS DON’T SUFFER, THERE ARE LAWS TO PROTECT THEM!
That is like saying there are no rapists or paedophiles in the world, because that’s illegal. What kind of people do you think work in slaughter houses and on factory farms?
ALL VEGANS ARE SKINNY, PALE AND POORLY!
Go google ‘vegan sportsmen and women’ then come back to me and say that again!
WHY DO VEGANS EAT FAKE MEAT IF THEY HATE IT SO MUCH?
Not all vegans choose to eat fake meats. But some do, and why shouldn’t they! Your answer is in the question, they are FAKE, that means no cruelty, no suffering, no killing, no animal ingredients, which is what a vegan is trying to achieve.
BUT THEY ARE ‘ONLY ANIMALS’!
And so are we! They feel pain, just like us. They feel fear, just like us. They form friendships, just like us. They feel happiness, just like us. The only difference is they speak a different language to us. If they could beg you to stop, would you?
IF YOU WERE STRANDED ON A DESERT ISLAND I BET YOU WOULD KILL AND EAT MEAT!
Hmmmm let’s see, the chances of me being stranded on an island are pretty slim, BUT lets go along with this silly ‘what if’ anyway. If there are animals on the island, surely that would mean there is vegetation on the island too? So why can’t i eat the vegetation instead of the animals?
I ONCE KNEW A MAN WHO WORKED IN A SLAUGHTER HOUSE/ON A FARM AND HE SAID ANIMALS ARE TREATED WELL!
Do you REALLY think that anyone who gets paid to kill animals, cares about them? Sorry, but if you love an animal you would not be able to kill it. They care about the animals because they see them as money. Do you honestly think anyone in this industry would boast to people about how badly they treat their animals? Of course not, because that would affect their income. Never believe the word of anyone who can send young, healthy animals to the slaughter for money. Never trust the words of anyone who can send an exhausted animal to the slaughter just because he has worked it too hard, and now it is no longer making him enough money. People only believe their lies because they want to, not because it is true!
I KNOW SOMEONE WHO USED TO BE VEGAN, BUT IT MADE THEM ILL, SO THEY HAD TO START EATING MEAT AGAIN.
There is nothing in a meat eaters diet that is essential for good health, that cannot be got from vegan food. If anyone is having health problems, them blaming it on being vegan and instantly going back to eating meat is a cop out. If somebody is truly passionate about veganism, they would look at their diet and look at what vitamins etc. were missing from it, and see if there were ways to improve it. Personally, i would be a vegan even if it was the most unhealthy diet in the world, because i refuse to be a part of the suffering and death of innocent beings. BUT luckily a sensible vegan diet is a VERY healthy diet indeed, and can help reduce the risk of getting many illnesses, and can greatly reduce the symptoms of others. Remember, eating meat and dairy causes many illnesses, so eating meat is never a solution to health problems. Also, there are many long term vegans ( 30+ years ) who are incredibly healthy, they are living proof that a good vegan diet can and does work.
I ONLY EAT FREE RANGE, ORGANIC OR HUMANE & ETHICALLY SOURCED MEAT / EGGS / DAIRY, SO IT IS OK!
Sorry but there is no such thing as humane meat or dairy. All these terms are just conjured up by the farming industry to fool people into feeling less guilty about what they eat.
I AM AN ANIMAL LOVER / I HAVE RESCUE ANIMALS, SO I DO MY BIT!
While i applaud you for giving a loving home to animals, it is a shame that your compassion doesn’t spread to all species. You are NOT an animal lover if you eat animals, you might be a dog lover or a cat lover etc. but please do not call yourself an animal lover!
I AM NOT A MURDERER JUST BECAUSE I EAT MEAT.
Hmmmmmm, you pay people to mutilate and kill animals for you to eat. You may not hold the knife that slits their often conscious throats with your own hands, but it is still done for you and because of you. ANIMALS DIE FOR YOU!
BUT WE ARE NATURAL MEAT EATERS!

IF YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT, MEAT EATERS ARE FULL OF PAIN, MISERY, SUFFERING & DEATH! DON’T BELIEVE ME? WATCH THIS….

Be Vegan For All The Right Reasons said on February 12, 2012
Much of the misinformation on the issue of man’s being a natural vegetarian arises from confusion between taxonomic (in biology, the procedure of classifying organisms in established categories) and dietary characteristics.
Members of the mammalian Order Carnivora may or may not be exclusive meat eaters. Those which eat only meat are carnivores. Dietary adaptations are not limited by a simple dichotomy between herbivores (strict vegetarians) and carnivores (strict meat-eaters), but include frugivores (predominantly fruit), gramnivores (nuts, seeds, etc.), folivores (leaves), insectivores (carnivore-insects and small vertebrates), etc. Is is also important to remember that the relation between the form (anatomy/physiology) and function (behavior) is not always one to one.
Individual anatomical structures can serve one or more functions and similar functions can be served by several forms.
The key category in the discussion of human diet is omnivores, which are defined as generalized feeders, with neither carnivore nor herbivore specializations for acquiring or processing food, and who are capable of consuming and do consume both animal protein and vegetation. All the available evidence indicates that the natural human diet is omnivorous and would include meat. We are not, however, required to consume animal protein. We have a choice. Our closest relatives among the apes are the chimpanzees (i.e., anatomically, behaviorally, genetically, and evolutionarily), who frequently kill and eat other mammals (including other primates).
Relative number and distribution of cell types, as well as structural specializations, are more important than overall length of the intestine to determining a typical diet. Dogs are typical carnivores, but their intestinal characteristics have more in common with omnivores. Wolves eat quite a lot of plant material.Nearly all plant eaters have fermenting vats (enlarged chambers where foods sits and microbes attack it). Ruminants like cattle and deer have forward sacs derived from remodeled esophagus and stomach. Horses, rhinos, and colobine monkeys have posterior, hindgut sacs. Humans have no such specializations.Although evidence on the structure and function of human hands and jaws, behavior, and evolutionary history also either support an omnivorous diet or fail to support strict vegetarianism, the BEST evidence comes from our teeth.
The short canines in humans are a functional consequence of the enlarged cranium and associated reduction of the size of the jaws. In primates, canines function as both defense weapons and visual threat devices. Interestingly, the primates with the largest canines (gorillas and gelada baboons) both have basically vegetarian diets.Intestinal absorption is a surface area, not linear problem. Dogs (which are carnivores) have intestinal specializations more characteristic of omnivores than carnivores such as cats. The relative number of crypts and cell types is a better indication of diet than simple length. We are intermediate between the two groups.
Humans are classic examples of omnivores in all relevant anatomical traits. There is no basis in anatomy or physiology for the assumption that humans are pre-adapted to the vegetarian diet. For that reason, the best arguments in support of a meat-free diet remain ecological, ethical, and health concerns. We have a choice. We should be allowed to make that choice for the right reasons.
Stop spreading misinformation and shock material. Start spreading truth and love.

this is most helpful. I have never heard a more in depth explanation. I am always trying to find ways of explaining this to people in order to ensure that they embrace a vegan lifestyle. Thank you so much.

No one is spreading mis information, simply how it is.
We do have a choice in what we eat, but what about the “Choice” of those who get eaten, this seems to be overlooked. The fact that there is a third party involved seems to be made irrelevant.
Whether we are designed to eat flesh or not im really not bothered, animals are killed by the billions that live in horror for all of their short miserable lives, when there is no need to kill to survive and that is more important to me

Two you’ve missed out that always come up and bug me. The B12 thing – if a vegan diet is so ‘natural’ and ‘healthy’, how come your B12 has to come in pill form, or be artificially fortified? So many carnists think they’ve pulled out the trump card with this argument. But to this day, I’ve never come up with a way to shut them up. I tend to say ‘taking a vitamin is better than paying for animals to be hurt and killed’, but that doesn’t stop them from thinking they’ve won on the ‘natural omnivore’ argument.
Another thing that comes up is the collateral damage of grain harvesting – the small animals that are harmed in the harvesting process. I point out the difference between the collateral damage implied in grain harvest and the industrialised abuse and slaughter of millions of animals every day, but then they’e like ‘oh, you only care about animals when it’s convenient’. Of course it’s stupid and hypocritical of them (they eat grains *and* cows), but again, it gives them the chance to say ‘Ha! You kill animals just like me!’
Man, I’m so sick of flesh-eating zombies and their straw men…
CALF (sharon) said on March 11, 2012
Hi hun….The B12 issue i will dig out some of the info we have…But to be honest the b12 point is not just with veggys, aparently meat eater are at just the same risk, probably moreso, as most vegan food is fortified with b12..
You here so many excuses, even down to the standing on insects, its all just a way to belittle those that are doing more than their fair share. I would simply turn the tables and ask What? they do to help the planet in anyway shape or form. That they should spend more time thinking about the future of the childrens and grandchildrens homes here on earth rather than trying to find childlike excuses as to why they do NOTHING ! ;0)
CALF (sharon) said on March 11, 2012
another…ask them where b12 comes from, most do not even know
VeganNinjaMonster said on April 28, 2012
hey, just thought i’d help pitch in here, recently discovered that most of the B12 we need can be found in 12 ounces of uncontaminated fresh stream water. As an animal management student i have leartn where b12 comes from and it does come in meat form but it also comes in the forms of bacteria such as yeast, even the soil on fresh fruits and vegetables can be a rich source so there is little reason to worry and even though we only obsorb 2% of the B12 we injest, the reson for this is to stop our bodys suffering from toxicity via it.
annie said on May 2, 2012
Hi, with the B12 argument I always firstly mention that B12 used not to be a problem it was prolific on all plants in all gardens etc. then came man and his over- zealous application of pesticides which obliterated all naturally occurring B12 So we do need to ensure that we get our fortified foods eg. soya milk, cereals, margarine , Natex yeast extract. But so do all the meat and dairy consumers. Look at cows kept on concrete and fed supplemented food, with ground up remains of other animals (now being fed to herbivores) growth hormones, anti biotics and for us we make our pain and torture free choices. AHIMSA always. love and blessings x
